Healing one, helping many.
Untreated addiction, dual diagnosis, and mental health problems often disrupt families or tears them apart. Family Services helps rebuild them and put them back together.
Family Treatment
Addiction and mental health problems and their residual effects are not solely confined to the afflicted individual(s). There is tremendous pressure on family members and confusion for loved ones in general, including friends. Relationships suffer and communication breaks down if it exists at all. It is as upsetting for family members as it is for the person in need of help. Emotions can run high; discussion can escalate into outbursts and reactive behavior can damage the fragile bonds that may or may not hang in the balance. Knowing what not to do is equally as important as knowing what to say or do and how to do it. Understanding that difference is crucial for changes in the existing dynamics to be made. This is exactly why Family Services is an important part of the healing process for everyone.
Our family approach employs a three-fold system of support:
- 1-on-1 family therapy
- Private couples counseling
- One full year of family support
Family Services resources work together in synergy to help restore healthy communication, rebuild trust and clear pathways where obstacles once seemed impassible or impossible to surmount. An honest, open approach that creates stronger bonds is a significant contributing factor to treatment success.
We Offer a Different Approach to Family Treatment
Most rehab settings offer mainly group-based family treatment. While group therapy has some benefits, it can be an uncomfortable fit for family members who are already dealing with heightened sensitivity and raw emotions as their loved one goes through treatment. Sharing those feelings and challenges or revealing deeps truths with strangers is not for everyone. We take that discomfort out of the equation by taking an alternate approach because we have a different philosophy; we work 1-on-1 with your family. By opening the door more privately and offering therapy, coaching. and private workshops, we can help put your family back together so you can all thrive.
The 1 Method Center Difference
1 Method views family participation as vital for recovery. We also recognize that each family situation is unique and it might not be feasible for you to fly out to Los Angeles. If that’s the case, don’t worry. In addition to our in-person support services, we also offer:
- Telephone or video conferencing.
- A specialized online Family Program.
We know that recovery is stronger when loved ones understand the nature of addiction and mental health problems and are involved in the healing process. We know that by educating you about the nature of these issues and the different ways family members are affected—whether parent, child, spouse or partner—you can:
- Work through the fear you’re experiencing.
- Stop engaging in the chaos.
- Set healthy boundaries.
- Rebuild a more trusting relationship.
- Improve communication with your loved ones.
One of our goals is to help you learn to identify what you can control and what you cannot. Essentially, as a family member, you have control over yourself, your behaviors and attitudes, and your own emotional health and wellbeing. The 1 Method family program helps you to understand and practice that knowledge.
