David Wiss


David Wiss, MS, RDN, CPT, grew up in Los Angeles, graduating from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science. He earned a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at California State University, Northridge, and completed training to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

His Master’s Thesis “Nutrition and Substance Abuse” was a multisite and multidisciplinary investigation into the special needs of addicts and alcoholics within the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System.

For many years Mr. Wiss has been a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Additionally, he is an active member of the Behavioral Health Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group, and is on the executive board of the Los Angeles District of the California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Mr. Wiss has been privileged to be a preceptor for other dietetic professionals as well as a Master’s Thesis committee member. David has a strong research background and has been a consultant reviewer for the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. David Wiss is a published author with five peer-reviewed journal articles and three book chapters. Please see his range of publications here.

Currently David Wiss is working on his PhD in Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles with research focused on nutrition and addiction.

During his supervised practice to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Mr. Wiss spent several months at UCLA Medical Center where he participated in the care of hospital patients with special nutrition needs. Additionally, he received valuable training in the Eating Disorders Unit while at UCLA. David has a gift for helping those with disordered eating find their way into sustainable recovery.
