What Comes First?

1 Method is a privately, and more importantly, clinically owned and operated treatment center for substance use disorders, dual diagnosis, and mental health issues. Our founder, Cassidy Cousens, has worked in the field for the past 20 years. If you don’t already know who he is, here’s a video where you can learn more about him and his philosophy on treatment.

We do not participate as advertisers on “funnel” websites, bogus treatment directory sites, or so-called “rehab reviews” which misrepresent their objectivity to users or readers. We encourage clients, families and referents to visit us in person in order to see our facilities up close and to experience the vitality and spirit of our program for themselves. Simply put: The closer you look, the better we look.

We do not admit clients who are not clinically appropriate for our milieu. We recognize the limitations of our model of care and we consistently refer clients and families who are not appropriate to other programs that have the same ethical standards we do.

We do not believe in a la carte pricing, add-ons or nickel-and-diming our guarantors. Fees for services are all-inclusive and always include greater, not lesser value and services than advertised.

When calling 1 Method Center, prospective clients, families, and referents will always be greeted by a licensed counselor who is there to be of support and assistance in a time of need. We do not have a boiler room operation and we do not attempt to convert callers into paying “customers” when they are merely calling us for help, nor do we operate call centers that are manned by aggressive sales people with no other interest than to make sales. Furthermore, when you do call us, we do not use your information for unwarranted future solicitation.

Why the Integrated Model of Care?

People with mental and substance abuse disorders risk dying decades earlier (on average, 25 years) than other people — mostly from untreated and preventable chronic illnesses like hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. These treatable issues are aggravated by a lack of personal initiative, poor health habits such as inadequate physical activity, poor nutrition, smoking, and substance abuse. Barriers to treatment, coupled with challenges in navigating a complex healthcare system often pose insurmountable obstacles to getting proper health care of any kind. This is particularly true of those suffering from addiction, dual diagnosis, and mental illness. We seek to break those barriers down through ease of admission, transparency and a sense of urgency to heal the whole person and not just the substance use disorder.

Treatment centers and primary care settings are the gateway to the behavioral health system. Unfortunately, most traditional providers are overwhelmed by a system that is strained by limitations and controlled by a view to the bottom line. They require support and resources to screen and treat individuals with behavioral and general healthcare needs.

1 Method, in accordance with SAMHSA guidelines, recognizes the solution to these problems lies in integrated care, the systematic coordination of general and behavioral healthcare. Integrating mental health, substance abuse, and primary care services produces the best outcomes and proves the most effective approach to caring for people with multiple healthcare needs.

Locations. We have programs in the following areas of Los Angeles — Cheviot Hills, Beverly Hills, Westwood, and West LA conveniently located to both the 10 and 405 freeways. This offers your clients multiple ways to easily access 1 Method Center, no matter where they live.

Hospital Admissions and Transfers

Experienced nursing and admissions staff is available onsite at 1 Method Center 24/7. We can coordinate direct admission, emergency department evaluation, clinical consultation or client enrollment to any residential 1 Method location. Additionally, safe transport can be coordinated within the greater Los Angeles area by making the same phone call.

Refer a Client

To refer a client, you don’t need to know a staff member or have a previous relationship with us. Let us collaborate with you to provide the highest quality care for your clients.
