Integrative treatment that works.

Living with an addiction and a psychiatric disorder at the same time isn’t easy.

We recognize that addiction and mental health issues go hand in hand. Simultaneously having an addiction and a psychiatric disorder can seem burdensome or even hopeless. When it comes to getting a proper diagnosis, it can be evasive. Despite this, we know it can be done. Most importantly, it’s critical to get the right care.

1 Method offers specialized dual diagnosis treatment based on an integrative clinical model. This includes, but isn’t limited to: detoxification, 1-on-1 therapy, evidence-based treatments (e.g., psychiatry, mental health screening, medication mgmt., ect.) and cutting-edge holistic services. Our approach to treatment of dual diagnosis is so highly specialized that we’ve been heralded as the leading licensed dual diagnosis treatment center and privately held therapeutic environment in Southern California. We know how to help you achieve a full recovery so you can lead a productive, fulfilling life.

Choosing a program is very personal and we personalize your treatment every step of the way. If you’re unsure whether our approach to treating dual diagnosis is right for you – don’t worry. Simply call us with any questions or send us a message. We are here to listen and help.

What is Dual Diagnosis?

When someone experiences a mental illness and a substance use disorder at the same time, it is called Dual Diagnosis. Also referred to as Co-Occurring Disorders, either can develop first. Research shows that alcohol and drugs exacerbate the symptoms of mental illness and people who have these issues often turn to drugs or alcohol as a form of self-medication in an effort to “improve” the symptoms they experience. Because of the different cultures related to mental health treatment and substance use recovery, dual diagnosis treatment is highly specific. Effective care addresses all issues simultaneously as each condition affects the other.

In a nutshell, dual diagnosis treatment is only as effective as it is individualized. At 1 Method, our philosophy is that individual problems need to be treated in individual ways. Committed to this philosophy, we provide the right care in the right way at the right time.

Our Treatment Approach

Though clinical plans are not the same for everyone, proven treatment methods for dual diagnosis often begin with inpatient detoxification to reduce withdrawal effects. This helps us determine what psychiatric issues are present and whether they are related or unrelated to substance misuse. Once a safe, comfortable detox has been achieved, evidence-based services (psychiatry, mental health evaluations, medication mgmt., etc.) are introduced and complemented by our holistic approach, healthy food, and nationally recognized health and fitness program. Each of these components is provided in conjunction with 1-on-1 therapies, group support and a wide range of targeted treatments. Coupled with our calm, tranquil environment, these aspects work synergistically to foster recovery, healing and success.

Customized Treatment Plans

From a clinical standpoint, 1 Method Center offers the highest level of customization. We’ve created a compassionate, yet robust therapeutic setting that supports the complex needs of those with a dual diagnosis. We don’t offer cookie-cutter approaches to treating addiction or psychiatric disorders that (often incorrectly) assume all disorders can be treated the same way. Conversely, we recognize your distinct needs and treat them accordingly. We incorporate a diverse range of 1-on-1 strategies and individual treatment planning to untangle these co-occurring elements, so that proper attendance will alleviate the difficulty of living with untreated dual diagnosis. Having a customized treatment plan will help you achieve greater insight as you move towards a healthy and full recovery.

Comprehensive Exit Planning

We dedicate a good portion of your time in treatment to making sure you have the right tools to reenter the world healthier so you can thrive in society. In our view, a strong, personalized exit plan is critical to this goal. Whether your time with us concludes after 30 days, 90 days or 6 months, a comprehensive exit plan is executed with your personal therapist, case manager and clinical team addressing all aspects of life: living arrangements, support system, triggers, relapse prevention, safety plan, aftercare structure, therapy, medical care, and next steps towards areas of life such as career, family, school, and recreation. This emphasis on planning for a safe transition from treatment gives you the best chance to handle the challenges ahead.

The 1MC Difference

Many people view dual diagnosis rehab as a revolving door of success and setbacks until treatment starts again. That doesn’t have to be your story. With specialized, targeted care for your addiction and psychiatric concerns, you can move forward. But it is critical to get the right care to help break that cycle. When treatment is tailored to your individual needs, you can expect better results. Fortunately, that’s where 1 Method Center really shines.

We know you can recover for good. This perspective is demonstrated in every part of our program. From our tranquil setting in Southern California, to our integrated clinical model, to our experienced staff and specialized health programs, we’re certain you can have a life-changing experience at 1 Method Center.
